And you are living stones that God is building into his spiritual temple. (1 Peter 2:5a NLT)
So I haven’t done a devotext, and I know I haven’t finished the end sayings, but I don’t care. Ima talk about something different :p so this devotext will be based off the phrase my bible study group went over last week. And it is “boast in my weakness”. How can one who loves God, boast in weakness? Boast in failure? Boast in struggle? After alittle debating, I agreed most with what the teacher, James, said and what my ate Gianel said. We can boast in our weakness cause of three things. One: because of grace, and two: because God works most and is strongest in our lives at our weakest points. And three: because if we love God, we know that when God puts us through hardship, its just really Gods love shaping us into what He really wants us to be. Ima tell you guys right now, this will mostly a joint devotext. Im getting a lot of ideas and insight from my friend Mara, so she deserves a lot of credit too. But the first reason is very important. We can boast in our weakness because we have the assurance that it is already taken care of. Yes, our past mistakes are just that; mistakes. It is nothing to be proud of, because we know that some are very shameful. But we can boast in it because we have a God, a father, who loves us so much, that He looks past it. Who loves us so much that He took that load off our shoulders, and continues to love us no matter how bad we think we are. Grace trumps sin all day, every day.
The second and third part go hand-in-hand, and goes with the verse the best. Why else can we boast in our weakness? We can boast in our weakness because we know that, if we love God, at our weakest points, God is at His strongest in our lives. It even says in the Bible, that when we are weak, He is strong. That, when at our weakest, we let go and truly let God. And we also know that God loves us enough to shape us. God loves enough to put us through trial after trail. We know that Gods love isn’t flowery, but fiery. Passionate. Strong. He loves us so much that He will continually put us through one hardship after the other to shape us into the God-loving people He knows we can and should be. You know, it seems that when God puts us at a point where we think we can’t get any lower, a few months or even years later, He puts at an even lower point. And an even lower point. And then a point even lower than that. But as God puts us through this, we are building the endurance He talks about in the Bible. Endurance to weather the storm. Endurance to keep going. Endurance to get through anything God throws at us. In all honesty, like the verse says, God is building us into rocks, into stones. Not to be hard of heart, or lack of emotion, but enduring people built with Gods love. Cause what is more enduring than a rock, right?
So why is it we can boast in our weakness? Because Gods grace already took over it. Because we know that at our weakest points, God is at His strongest. And because we know that God is using that weakness, to build our endurance, so that we have what it takes to get past anything this world throws at us. We are living, breathing, God-loving rocks. Endurance is what we do.
Weakness is a part of life. Everyone has their points of weakness. But, as Christians and lovers of God, we aren’t alone. We have God and we have each other. No matter how weak we seem, we don’t have to go through it alone. You are never alone. I know it’s tough to open up to other about certain weak points in life, but I love you. I’m not here to judge, I’m here to love on you with non judgmental eyes, and help you through any way I can. Your struggles are my struggles, your burdens are my burdens. I will gladly take or share the load with you. I love you. You are never alone.
So keep at it. Always look to God. Keep growing in God. Keep praying for each other. Always encourage each other. Boast in your weakness. And continue to show Gods love to this world. I love you guys. So much!
You are never alone.
